Door County May 2009

Looking forward to going to Door County for vacation is always a bright spot for us. This year we didn't do too much but rest. Of course if you count the wonderful bike ride through Peninsula State Park in Fish Creek, now that was work. Especially on the uphill ride. Yes. We did manage to complete the whole 9.6 miles. I will confess that I got off my bike a couple of times when the hills was too hard for me to keep pedaling. Gary on the other hard, stayed on his bike.

While we were at Charlene's, Gary was able to change the oil filter in her new riding mower. The cap was so hard to get off, but with much time and patience, he finally got it off.

While they read through the manual, I pulled up dried flowers from her flower bed. The picture below is a photo of tulips she ordered from Holland. They were so beautiful.

In Sister Bay, where Charlene lives, a lot of things were blooming late. Even the robbins were laying their eggs later than here in Illinois. I was sorry when I got home that my robbin babies had already left their next.

Now that Charlene invites us to live downstairs instead of upstairs, we were able to observe birds feeding from the bird feeders.

Here we have two turtle doves.

Each morning you would find these beautiful yellow birds at the feeders.

One of the new photos on her wall are photos that Pastor Williquette took last year. He sent her some photos and she framed and hunged them around the living room. ENJOY

We enjoyed our stay. Went on a long ride in search of new park areas. Found some, but large swams of bugs kept us in the truck.

The weather was cool, except the day we took our bike ride. As you can see from the photo above, Charlene has the right place to just take off your shoes, turn the fireplace on and just enjoy the quietness of the country life.
Thanks for all your prayer for safety. No accidents while there this year. And a hugh thanks to Charlene for letting us enjoy another wonderful time in Door County.

I'm so glad you had a wonderful, injury-free time. Those pictures are great, and the downstairs looks really nice! We look forward to being there in July...
