Many years ago, perhaps five or six, we were going through the small town of Baraboo. We hit upon a drug store that served the good old fashioned malts and sundaes. So we decided that on our way to Warren, we would stop in Barbaboo and have lunch at this drugstore. Well, the drugstore was still there but no soda fountain. What a disappointment. Then she told us about the Garden Party Cafe.
Then it was time to leave Baraboo and head for Warren.
The first time we did the next morning was head straight to the bus tours to get tickets to see the cranberry bogs. Last year even though we tried to get tickets at 1:00 p.m. they weren't giving any more tours So this year we wanted to make sure to get the tour. It was a raining, windy and cold day. When we purchased our tickets, they asked if we wanted to take the bus NOW!! With the weather being bad and thinking of a nice warm bus, it was a no brainer. We had a great bus guide explaining everything about bogs.
Here a photo of what the bogs look like before they actually bring the cranberries to the top. That's something we thought we would see. But that wouldn't happen until about two more weeks.
Once we were back at the fest, Gary got a delicious dessert.
If it wasn't for my love of antiques, Gary wouldn't have met up with some friends of his, Donna and Paul Olsen. Several times I made Gary stop and let me look at several booths that had antiques. While headed back to one of the stores for warmth, I saw one more antique booth. It's a good thing that Gary let me go because that was where Paul was standing and Donna was looking at antiques. See Gary, it pays to be nice to your wife, even if you think all antiques are junk. We must have talked for about an hour. We would have loved to have gone out with them for supper, but we would have ended up getting home very late.
Gary says this was our last time for Cranfest. So I think I will try and think of something new in the place of this event.
